Examining Your Body
You can learn a lot from simply studying the shape and proportions of your body.
Pay attention to where you gain weight to give yourself a clue about your shape. Each body type is prone to weight gain in a specific area—for example, the thighs or stomach.
Determine which parts of your body are largest and which are narrowest. Note your shoulders, bust, waist, hips, and thighs. Take note of which parts of your body are curviest, and which are straightest.
Note your “problem” areas.
Take note of which parts of your body you have the hardest time flattering. For example, this could include broad shoulders, thick thighs or a rounded tummy.
Note your positive features.
Take note of what your best assets are. This could include slender arms or legs, or an ‘on point” set of curves 😉 or a nicely shaped behind :D.
Take Your Measurement
Start with your bust, which will help you determine how large your upper body is.
This is the second of your basic measurements, and often helps in determining how wide your midsection is.
This is the third and final basic measurement you need, it will help you determine how large or small your lower body is.
Compare Your Measurements to the Different Body Types
Different body types as shown below…Enjoy!
When Apples gain weight, they tend to gain in the midsection; they usually grow thick around the middle (tummy region) down to the thighs. Not all apples are curvy and overweight but generally, all have larger upper body and wider shoulder.
PEAR (TRIANGLE) SHAPE:
HOUR GLASS SHAPE:
The hourglass body shape is characterized by a curvy bust and hips with a slim waist, it is often thought of as the ideal female body shape, it is probably the most envied of all body shapes
STRAWBERRY (INVERTED TRIANGLE) SHAPE:
BANANA (RECTANGLE) SHAPE:
Despite the fact that other women envy this figure, a slender body shaped woman might feel very boyish at times due to her few curves.
The great advantage of an athletic shape is you can wear pretty much anything. Although, a lot of women with this body shape feel unfeminine and find it difficult to find clothes that suit their shape.
The word “petite” refers majorly to the smaller height of a person, usually 5’4″or under, and NOT the weight. Petite women come in all shapes and sizes
PLUS SIZED (FULL FIGURED)
You can be tall, average and petite with any type of body shape and also be plus sized (full-figured) as well. If you are full-figured you will wear size 16 and over.

Many women do not fit perfectly within one body shape. For example, you may have the bust and hips of a pear shape, with a slightly bigger stomach than a strict pear shape has. Be prepared for little variations like these and adjust your style needs appropriately.
