It is true that happiness is a choice, you can only be truly happy if you choose/want to be…hence you have to open yourself up to it, do things that bring this happiness into your life. Nobody can make you as happy as you can make yourself and nobody can decide for you what will make you happy…
There are a few things you can do that that will allow you/help you open yourself up to the happiness you deserve…like i said, it is up to you to decide, i’m just here to guide you in making a good decision *smiles*
Showing kindness or giving/acting without any expectations is actually one of the easiest ways to feel good about yourself…making a positive impact on somebody else’s life gives you that feeling of goodwill and this helps minimize whatever negativity may be going on in your own life
“Gratitude is the best attitude”. Be grateful for the things you have, be grateful for the people who are there for you and who care for you, focusing on the negatives or the things you lack will definitely make you sad. Being thankful helps you realize how good you’ve got it.
True happiness comes from within you, if you love yourself and are content with yourself just the way you are, your happiness will know no bounds! Look for that unique thing about yourself that you love, focus on it, cultivate it, nurture it, let it grow…self love is the greatest love.
Always look at the positive side of things! Learn to make the best of every situation, see the humor in every situation, no matter how bad it is… it always lightens the weight of things…it helps you become a happier person!
There’s some scientific study that proves that smiling more increases the level of your happiness, alongside a lot of other effects. Smile even if there’s nothing to smile about, and then you may start smiling because you’re smiling for no reason…lol…smiling gives you a great outlook and makes u appear happier and eventually it will radiate from within.
DO NEW THINGS
It could be really draining sometimes doing the same thing over and over and over again…it could almost feel like you’re trapped…i know cos I’ve been there before…doing something different or something new could really be refreshing! Go somewhere you’ve never been, meet new people, learn something new…its definitely a step to being happy.
LOVE AND BE LOVED
Whether its romantic love, friendly love or parental love, feelings of companionship provides a sense of belonging that is very comforting. Staying isolated from the world and people around you makes it easy for negative feelings and thoughts to creep in, but spending time with loved ones strengthens a human connection that silences those thoughts and blocks those feelings… Knowing that you’re cared for in return is one of the biggest determiners of happiness.
HAVE A DAILY PURPOSE/GOAL
Having a reason to jump out of bed in the morning is said to be one of the great sources of happiness, especially if you love what you do…and if you don’t have any particular thing to do, you can always set mini goals for yourself. Now i don’t mean you should plan one very enormous project or anything, but if you can, that will be nice too….plan out your day, what you’ll eat, what you’ll wear…little positive tasks you wish to accomplish at the end of the day. You’ll be very happy and fulfilled when you accomplish them!
BE FREE FROM GRUDGES
Keeping a grudge is so much stress….i mean you literally feel the weight in your chest (i dunno about you tho)…especially when its with someone you really care about. Grudges are pointless, if you’re keeping one with someone now, go and reconcile and feel freer, lighter and happier…LET GO!
Be open to life and its many experiences, don’t be too bent on what you think is the”right way” or “your own way”…yes its good to have principles but sometimes it good to just live for the moment, take risks, open up to the world…you never know what you will discover that could be the key to a happier life.
SURROUND YOURSELF WITH POSITIVE AND HAPPY PEOPLE
Believe it or not, happiness is contagious…that’s why its good to surround yourself with happy people, people that feed your mind with positive thoughts, people that make you laugh hard and loud, people that help you discover yourself; discover your potential…happy and positive people!
HOLD ON TO GOD
When all is said and done, the only way we can find true happiness is with God! After all He is the one who gave us life, He knows the plans he has for us…when faced with difficulties, talk to Him and He will listen, when you’re feeling down…speak to Him…list out all your problems for Him and He will take it from there. You will surely feel happier when you do! This comes highly recommended because it always works for me!
