I have always wondered, what happens when the “butterfly in belly” feeling fades? What happens when your heart doesn’t always skip a beat when you see your significant other? Does it mean the love is no longer there? Is it enough reason to decide to move on?
The truth is, love is a LOT more than the feeling. It is a LOT more than the initial “months” of interaction. Love is a DECISION. You fall in love and then you must work to STAY in love, this is where your decision comes in. You make the decision to be patient, loving, kind, true, loyal and committed to that one person.
“When you have a deep and real love for someone, passion will be a part of it, but realize that passion is something that can ebb and flow. Some days it is a hot roaring fire, the next it is a slow burn, then the next day it sparks again etc. You’ll learn with time that love is just like that, riding the waves when they’re high and swimming when its low. Either way, you stay in the water.”
Humans are naturally selfish, so it takes a lot of will power to make this decision and see it through. Loving someone is not a walk in the park, it is not easy to look passed disappointments and hurt and still decide to stay put…it is not easy. Real love takes work, daily hard work. Hard work that always pays off.
If you feel like it’s all fading away, and you are considering giving up. Take a deep breath and think things through, evaluate your love for your significant other. Make a conscious decision and it will be a whole lot easier.
