I never for a second thought blogging was going to have any effect on me. It started out as a hobby and has become something really important to me, it has become my baby, and this baby has taught me so much and helped me in so many ways, yea I know you want to know how, I’ll get to that in a minute.
I never thought I would get this far with this baby, four years is not easy oh! To think that at some point I was considering quitting the whole thing, but I didn’t and I’m happy I persevered the difficult blogging period because between then and now, I have grown a lot. You guys, I’ll tell you this for free; blogging is not easy! But if you love what you do enough, you’ll definitely be fine.
So, how has blogging helped me?
Blogging has helped me…
Be more open
I’m probably one of the shyest bloggers you’ll ever meet, and I know my blog posts probably indicate otherwise. If you compare my past and present posts, you’ll notice a difference. I became more comfortable talking about things especially those that concern me. I now speak/write more freely, I no longer bother about what people will think about what I write.
Have a purpose
Having a blog gave me purpose, it gave me something to think/worry about. I feel fulfilled whenever I complete a blog post and get positive feedback. Like I mentioned above, having a blog is very much like having a baby, you have to feed and nurture it so it can grow beautifully and be successful.
This part is still a work in progress, because I feel there is still a lot inside me that I need to let out, but I’ve been doing great so far. Blogging has given me a voice and consistent blogging has helped me be confident with using that voice, the voice is getting louder. I am now more confident about expressing myself and my opinion on issues. Apart from writing, I find that I am now more expressive when talking with people.
Write more easily
I used to find it really hard starting the first sentence of a blog post/article, I’m sure a lot of people can relate with this. Blogging has helped me cultivate the habit of spontaneous writing. So even I think of a blog topic, I don’t have to stress too much for the words to come out, they just flow.
If you are a blogger, I would love to know how blogging has helped you. If you are an aspiring blogger, I hope this motivates you some more to start your blog.
